Profile

I am deaf - and grew up with parents and sister who were deaf as well, so growing up with BSL was second nature to me.

I have a degree in Economics & Statistics. I worked for several years for the Office for National Statistics (ONS) in a variety of IT-related roles. When I left the ONS, I worked in a variety of roles; the most challenging was as a Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) adviser in Hertfordshire advising deaf people on solutions to their problems in BSL.

I took early retirement a few years ago - since then I did level 6 BSL with SfT and passed it in 2023. I already had level 4 PTLLS, so I put these 2 qualifications to good use by deciding to teach BSL.

I like travel and playing golf, especially with other deaf people. I support Chelsea FC and am in the process of becoming a BSL tour guide for Chelsea soon.

Looking forward to teaching level 1 properly for the first time in Autumn 2024 for SfT!
